Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess who signifies knowledge, learning, arts and culture. Saraswati Puja is celebrated on the fifth day of Magh month of Hindu calendar. According to English calendar it comes in the month of January/February. It is mainly celebrated in the eastern part of India and Nepal.
Yellow color has special importance on this day. Goddess Saraswati is dressed in yellow garments and worshipped. Devotees also wear yellow colored clothes and make yellow color sweets. As a tradition, the youngest girl in the family wears yellow saree. Saraswati pujas are held in every home and in localities. On festival day, early in the morning devotees go to temple and offers ‘Anjali’. “Anjali” is a ceremony of offering flowers to the while wearing yellow clothes.
